Introduction to RGBO (Responsible Gambling Board Oversight) Course and Its Purpose

Liquor & Gaming NSW now mandates that Directors of hospitality venues that offer gaming services complete the Responsible Gambling Board Oversight (RGBO) training by the revised deadline of 30 June 2025.

This course aims to ensure Board Directors can:

  • confidently understand the NSW gaming reforms and oversee compliance with legislation regarding harm minimisation within your venue.
  • take a proactive approach to minimising gambling related harm.
  • understand the importance of leadership for senior staff in promoting a culture of responsible gambling and proactive harm minimisation.

RGBO training encompasses various topics designed to equip individuals with the necessary knowledge to meet gaming reform training requirements.

The following are the key topics covered in an RGBO training course:

  • Responsible conduct of gambling: This includes a comprehensive overview of who is responsible, corporate social responsibility, and your role in corporate social responsibility.
  • Gambling harm: This topic focuses on defining gambling harm, examining the extent of gambling harm and how it develops.
  • Proactive gambling harm minimisation: This section covers various strategies to minimise gambling harm including restricting inducements, self-exclusion schemes, and location of gaming machines.

What to expect at your RGBO Course

You are expected to learn the following through our RGBO course:

  • Lead and support a culture of responsible gambling and proactive gambling harm minimisation.
  • Lead a culture of compliance through the implementation and maintenance of the Gambling incident register and Gaming Plan of Management (GPOM).
  • Understand the appropriate support services for patrons who are experiencing gambling harm (including self-exclusion).
  • Lead and support a culture of responsible gambling and proactive gambling harm minimisation in your venue.

Once you have successfully completed the course and the associated assessment, CTA Training Specialists will process your information and email you your RGBO certificate. A hard copy of your certificate will also be posted to you.
