We understand that governance isn't "one size fits all." To ensure the training is relevant to your specific organisation, we offer two distinct pathways:

The 101 Essentials series: Designed specifically for smaller clubs, community groups and incorporated associations that do not operate liquor or gaming licenses. This series focuses on the foundational "need-to-know" essentials for volunteer committees

Combines all modules from the 101 Essentials series. Recommended for incorporated associations/organisations without liquor and/or gaming.

This module discusses incorporated associations, fiduciary duties & documents, fundamental structure and roles of a board and compliance.

The 201 Advanced Series (coming soon): Developed for directors of larger enterprises with high-stakes operations like liquor and gaming. This series provides a deeper, more rigorous exploration of statutory duties, financial oversight, and advanced regulatory requirements. For Directors of smaller clubs and organisations, these modules are recommended if you wish to deepen your understanding of certain topics.

Recommended for large organisations, or for those who wish to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the board’s responsibilities and legal duties.

This module empowers directors and committee members to master financial oversight, from interpreting key reports like P&L statements and balance sheets to managing solvency risks and ensuring long-term financial health.

Navigate your legal responsibilities with confidence by mastering the 'positive duties' of board membership, from workplace safety and anti-discrimination to ensuring your club meets every statutory obligation under liquor, gaming, and national laws.

Transform your board into a high-performing team by mastering effective meeting processes. From setting strategic agendas and managing conflicts of interest to using 'flying minutes' and board charters for streamlined decision-making.

Understand your individual accountability as a director or committee member by mastering the five core legal duties, including acting in good faith, exercising care and diligence, and navigating conflicts of interest to protect both your organisation and your personal reputation.

This module provides a deep dive into the hierarchy of club governance, guiding you through the mandatory elements of a constitution, the strategic use of by-laws and policies to manage day-to-day operations, and the legal protocols for handling member grievances, disciplinary actions, and constitutional amendments.

This module outlines the board’s pivotal role in driving long-term enterprise success through a structured planning hierarchy, ranging from documenting a multi-year vision and strategic plan to overseeing operational business targets and project-specific milestones.

This module explores the critical responsibilities of managing liquor and gaming licenses, emphasising the importance of maintaining your 'social license' through strict harm minimisation, responsible service protocols, and a compliant AML/CTF program to protect your club from severe regulatory penalties.

This module explores the dynamics of a high-performing board, focusing on the balance between collegiate cooperation and independent inquiry, the mandatory support of majority decisions, and the professional standards required for managing meeting protocols, minutes, and the rare challenge of a 'rogue' director.

This module details how boards can master the delicate power balance of CEO management and the rigors of disciplinary proceedings by implementing structured 'hearings panels' and focused remuneration committees that uphold confidentiality and procedural fairness.

If you have further questions about any of the topics covered in a module, we encourage you to please look at the links and resources we provide at the end of each module first and foremost, as they delve even further into specific governance topics.

Our presenters are available for further questions if you need, however please keep in mind that they are professional governance consultants. They cannot provide specific information relating to your Club unless you would like to contract them. If you have a general question about the content covered in this topic, we will be happy to pass on your question to the presenters if it meets the nature of being a general question. Please email [email protected] if you have any general questions about any of the content covered in these courses.

We recommend the 101 Essentials series for board members of organisations without liquor and gaming licences, such as local sporting clubs, co-operatives, and community groups. This series provides a practical overview of the core duties and challenges most relevant to smaller associations.

We recommend Board Governance 201 Advanced for directors of larger organisations, companies limited by guarantee, or clubs offering liquor and gaming services. This series offers a more rigorous and comprehensive overview of your statutory responsibilities, which is essential for effective governance in highly regulated environments.

Note: As many governance principles apply to all organisations regardless of size, directors of smaller clubs who wish to deepen their expertise in specific areas may also find significant value in the advanced modules of the 201 Advanced series.
