ARCG stands for Advanced Responsible Conduct of Gambling. The course is designed to teach the Responsible Gambling Officers (RGOs) and other senior staff at venues the practical skills required to create a proactive environment focussed on harm minimisation and identify and support those who are experiencing gambling harm.
*upon completion of the course, you will receive an ARCG completion certificate. If you hold a digital competency card, it will be added to your current competency card for free. If you would like the certification added to your physical competency card, please visit the competency card self-service portal.

From July 1 2024 all hotels and clubs with 20 or more gaming machines will require at least one Responsible Gambling Officers (RGO) on premises when the gaming machines are in operation. Hotels and clubs with more than 20 machines will require additional RGOs.
In addition to RGO’s requiring a valid ARCG endorsement on their NSW competency card, it is also recommended that the following individual complete the course:

Upon sucsessfull completion of the ARCG course, we will upload your details into the L&G NSW portal so you can be provided with a certificate of completion. Once done, the course will be added your Digital Competency Card.
If you want a physical competency card for ARCG, you can get one by visiting the competency card self-service portal.
Please note that the course cost does not include a physical competency card.
You can refresh your ARCG competency by completing your RCG refresher. This can be done here.
Redoing the full RCG or ARCG course will not renew your competency.
No interstate competencies can be used in place of an RCG NSW Competency Card. If working in a position that requires this competency, you will need to undertake this course.
You must only undertake your ARCG course through a training organisation approved by Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW).
CTA Training Specialists is an approved training provider. The L&GNSW website has a complete list of approved training providers.
You can not complete your ARCG course online for NSW. It has to be done face-to-face or virtually. CTA Training Specialists offers ARCG training virtually (via Zoom). This allows students to undertake the course from home (or anywhere else with a stable internet connection) while still benefiting from a live delivery from an approved trainer.
The ARCG course teaches much-needed practical skills in identifying and assisting those who are showing signs of gambling harm. Through this course managers and staff will learn how to ensure that the venue has a culture of responsible gaming, are able to provide the necessary support and assistance to those who need it, and how to de-escalate high-tension situations that might arise as a result of gambling harm.
The ARCG course costs $300. This includes the addition of the ARCG endorsement to your digital NSW competency card. If you would like it on your physical card, you must do it separately via the competency card self-service portal which will incur an additional charge.
The ARCG course takes 6 hours to complete, plus an hour for breaks. It starts at 9 a.m. and finishes at 3 p.m. Students must sit through the entire course to take the final assessment.
Your ARCG is valid as long as your current RCG competency card. All courses on your NSW competency card will expire on the same day. You can refresh your ARCG competency by undertaking this RCG refresher course.
Redoing a full RCG or ARCG course will not renew your competency.
No, your ARCG competency is only valid in NSW and cannot be used in other states.
