USI

What is a USI?

A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a reference number made up of 10 numbers and letters that the Australian Government uses to keep a record of your nationally recognised qualifications.

You will use the same USI for all of the nationally recognised training that you complete.
Check out the video below.

How do I create a USI?

To create a USI online, visit www.usi.gov.au/students/create-your-usi. All you will need is a form of identification such as a passport, driver’s licence or birth certificate.

I’m not a student, do I still need a USI?

If you are currently undertaking a nationally recognised training course, you are required to have a USI in order to receive your statement of attainment. We will not be able to send you your certificate until we receive your correct USI information.

I am from overseas, do I still need to have a USI?

If you are currently in Australia on a Visa, you will need a USI. You can create your USI online using your passport and Visa.

If you are currently overseas, you are not required to have a USI. However, if you are an Australian expat or resident and have an Australian ID, you will need a USI.

For those who are overseas and do not need a USI, you will need to contact our support team at online@clubtraining.com.au or on (07) 3878 8977 in order to receive your certificate.

I am trying to create my USI on usi.gov.au but it doesn’t work. What should I do?

If the USI website will not allow you to create a USI, you will need to contact the USI Department directly in order to resolve your issue. You can do so by calling 1300 857 536 or submitting a contact form on the USI website.

I’ve lost my USI, how do I find out what it is?

You can retrieve your USI by logging into the USI student portal by visiting https://portal.usi.gov.au/student/ or by calling 1300 857 536. A copy of your USI would also have been sent you by email when you created your USI.

How do I submit my USI information?

To submit your USI information, visit your email you signed up with. In the email with the subject line, ‘Registration confirmation’, you will need to complete the form linked in Step 1.

After you have submitted your form, your USI will be validated against the government’s records. This may take up to 30 minutes and you will receive an email once your USI has been successfully validated.

Please check your junk emails if you did not receive this email.

I have submitted my USI information, but it has come back saying that my USI is invalid. What should I do?

The USI number that you have supplied us is incorrect. Please double check the USI you have given us against the USI that you were issued to ensure that there are no errors. If you find no discrepancy between these numbers, you will need to contact the USI Department to find out your correct USI. You can do so by calling 1300 857 536.

I have submitted my USI information, but it has come back saying that my first name or last name doesn’t match. What should I do?

The name you submit to us will be your legal name as it appears on the form of identification you used to create your USI.

If your name still will not match you will need to contact the USI Department to find out what name you signed up for your USI with. You can do so by calling 1300 857 536.

If you only have a first name, or if your name contains an apostrophe or hyphen, you may need to contact online support for a manual validation via email at online@clubtraining.com.au or by phone on (07) 3878 8977.

I have submitted my USI information, but it has come back saying that the information I have provided is incomplete. What should I do?

This error occurs when you have supplied us with an incorrect date of birth. Please ensure that you have provided us with the correct information.

I have just submitted my USI information, how long will it take before I am sent my certificate?

After you have submitted your form, your USI will be validated against the government’s records. This may take up to 30 minutes and you will receive an email once your USI has been successfully validated.

In that email there will be a link that you need to click to request a copy of your certificate to be sent to you.
