Same Day RSG Certificates

CTA will issue your Statement of Attainment on the same day as when you submit your assessments if the following conditions are met:

  • All assessments submitted before 4 pm AEST
  • You pass your assessments
  • Your USI number has been verified.

RSG Requirements in Western Australia

In Western Australia, the following individuals are required to hold an RSG.

  • Eligible licensee
  • Gaming nominee
  • Any person carrying out a gaming duty

Gaming duties include:

  • Supervise employees who are responsible for the conduct of gaming
  • Supervise the access to the internal parts of a gaming machine
  • Supervise money clearances
  • Issue keys for the security of gaming machines to employees
  • Supervise entries in accounting records
  • Arrange repairs to gaming equipment
  • Perform or witness payouts (as the designated gaming employee)
  • Prepare a revocation notice for an exclusion direction

Upon completing the course, you will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit of competency SITHGAM022 – Provide responsible gambling services. This statement of attainment also acts as the official RSG certificate in Western Australia. We recommend providing a copy of this certificate to your employer and keeping a digital version (photo or pdf copy) on you when working in and around gaming areas.

In Western Australia, you are not required to refresh your RSG training. Your statement of attainment (certificate) is valid indefinitely.

You can use a valid statement of attainment for SITHGAM022 – Provide responsible gambling services from Queensland and Northern Territory in Western Australia without the need for a bridging course.

FAQs

RSG stands for Responsible Service of Gambling and refers to the course that delivers the nationally recognised unit of competencySITHGAM022 – Provide responsible gambling services. This course is a mandatory requirement in most states and territories across Australia, including Western Australia.

The RSG certificate refers to the Statement of Attainment that is issued when you successfully complete the RSG course. The certificate (statement of attainment) can only be issued by RTOs that have been approved to deliver this training. CTA Training Specialists is an approved provider.

Yes, you can complete your RSG course online in Western Australia. While the course is delivered entirely online, the assessment has some video and audio aspects to it. You will be required to upload audio and video recordings to show your competency in the subject matter.

The WA version of the RSG course takes approximately 6 hours to complete. It can be completed in a single setting, but we allow students up to 3 months to complete it.

Your RSG certificate (Statement of Attainment) does not expire. You are not required to renew your certificate or do a refresher in Western Australia.

While the RSG and RCG courses have the same unit of competency, they are not identical. The RSG course is valid in QLD, WA, and NT, while the RCG course is only valid in NSW. In NSW, Students must complete an additional assessment to get their RCG certificate and competency card.

RSA and RSG are not the same. RSA is for the unit of competency SITHFAB021 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol, and RSG is for SITHGAM022 – Provide responsible gambling services.

If you work in a hotel, club, RSL or venue with gaming areas, we recommend completing both as they will allow you to work in a greater number of roles within your venue.

In addition to being valid in WA, it is also valid in QLD and NT.

For NSW, you need to complete the NSW RCG Course.

For Victoria, you must complete the local RSG course delivered by the Victorian Government.
