Completion of this course you will be issued a Statement of Attainment from CTA Training Specialists.
We will also upload your details to L&G NSW letting them know that you have completed the course. L&G NSW will then send you an additional assessment that you will need to complete to get your Interim Certificate.

NSW RCG for International students and Visa holders
Visa holders and international students (including subclass 500) can undertake this course through CTA Training Specialists. You will require a USI to receive your Statement of Attainment. You can apply for one here if you still need to get one.

RCG Requirements in New South Wales
In New South Wales, the following people are expected to have a valid RCG Competency Card:
- Licensees with a full hotel licence
- Secretaries of a registered club
- Staff with gaming machines (pokies)
- Staff who pay out winnings
- Staff who patrol or serve in an area where gaming machines (pokies) are present
NSW provides the one Competency Card for RSA and RCG. If you already have a RSA Competency Card, your RCG course will be added to it and will expire when your current competency card expires.
If you are due for a RSA renewal, we recommend first completing that and then doing the RCG course. That way your RCG remains valid for as close to 5 years as possible.
If you don’t currently have an RSA Competency Card, it is likely that you will require both RSA and RCG for your role. If so, then you can complete both courses with CTA and save $20. View our RSA RCG bundle for more information.
If you only require your RCG Competency Card, then this is the course for you. Upon completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment from us. Additionally, we let Liquor & Gaming NSW know that you have completed the course and they will send you an additional assessment that needs to be completed prior to receiving your Interim Certificate.
This Interim Certificate is valid for 90 days and used to get your Competency Card from your local NSW Services centre.
You are required to refresh your skills every 5 years.
If you don’t already have a competency card, your new one will be valid for 5 years.
If you do have a competency card, then you will need to refresh your RCG course when your current card expires.

Redoing the RCG course through an RTO will not renew your competency card.
RSG certificates from other states are not valid in NSW. You will need to complete the NSW RCG course to obtain the interim certificate and competency card.
You must only undertake your course through a training organisation registered with Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW).

FAQs
You can not complete your RCG course online for NSW. It has to be completed face-to-face or virtually. CTA Training Specialists offers RCG training virtually (via Zoom). This allows students to undertake the course from home (or anywhere else with a stable internet connection) while still getting the benefit of a live delivery from an approved trainer.
The NSW RCG course costs $160 with CTA Training Specialists. We are one of the most competitively priced training providers and have trained over 250,000 Australians over the last 30 years.
There is no difference between the virtual and in-person RCG courses. It is a personal choice. The virtual version can be done from the comfort of your own home, and therefore we find most students prefer this method of delivery.
The NSW RCG course takes approximately 6 hours plus 30 minutes for the assessment.
Your RCG is valid for a maximum of 5 years. If you have an existing RSA competency card, your RCG certification will be added to it, and it will expire at the same time as your RSA certification.
Yes, your RCG statement of attainment is valid in all states that accept the unit of competency SITHGAM022 Provide Responsible Gambling Services.
