Course Overview
Developed in partnership with Club Governance, our Board Governance 101 Essentials series provide an overview of the main responsibilities and concerns faced by committees of clubs without liquor and gaming, sports clubs, co-operative groups and community led initiatives. This module explores the critical relationship between the board, its members, and the workforce, emphasising the legal nature of your constitution as a binding contract. You will learn how to navigate member grievances and disciplinary matters through the lens of procedural fairness and natural justice to protect the organisation from legal risk. The module also outlines your non-negotiable duties to provide a safe, respectful, and compliant workplace for both paid staff and volunteers. Finally, you will master the practicalities of professional meeting protocols, ensuring your minutes serve as a robust and permanent legal record of your board’s decisions.
