Your Food Safety Supervisor course is super important, it should give you the skills and knowledge to be able to work effectively and meet the legal requirements for a course.

With so many options available it can be difficult to know how to pick the right course.

A quality food safety supervisor needs to:

  • Be from an accredited provider.
  • Be up to date.
  • Include a practical element (this is a legal requirement).

Accredited Provider:

Providers need to be a registered training organisation and need to be accredited for the course you are doing in the state you want to work in.

For Food Safety Supervisor courses, CTA Training Specialists has courses available for Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia, Northern Territories, Australian Capital Territory, South Australia, and New South Wales.

These courses provide the nationally recognised SITSS00069 – Food Safety Supervision Skill Set certificate.

With the New South Wales course, you will need to get a competency card, and the course price covers the fee for that card.

To check on whether an RTO is accredited head to either the states training website or the government website to search.

You’ll find CTA Training Specialists under Servir Group.

Be up to date.

The Food Safety Supervisor Course should be up to date with current legislation which can be checked on the government website.

If the RTO is accredited for a Food Safety Supervisor Course, then their course should be up to date with current requirements, however, it is always a good idea to double check.

Our team regularly review the courses to ensure they are fit for purpose.

Include a practical element (this is a legal requirement).

After you complete the online assessment, you are required to complete and return the Supervisor Report. This report forms part of the overall assessment. It is a requirement that you are able to demonstrate the application of the skills you gained from the online course in a practical way in a commercial kitchen.

In regards to the actual RTO there are a few things to check for:

  1. Read reviews
  2. Is the course delivered online or in-person?
  3. How’s the quality of support?
  4. Check the cost
  5. Do the trainers have industry expertise?
