The Anzac Day public holiday affects trading hours, service of alcohol and use of gaming machines for licensed premises. For Queensland and NSW, please see trading restrictions below:

ANZAC Day Eve (Thursday 24th April 2025)
The sale and supply of alcohol must cease at midnight for licensed premises (patrons have until 12.30am to finish their drinks). Gaming machine operations must also cease at midnight for Clubs and Hotels. For Casinos, gaming operations must cease by 3am.

ANZAC Day (Tuesday 25th April 2023)
From 10am to 1pm, all liquor licensees can sell or supply alcohol only in conjunction with a meal. The meal must be prepared and eaten in an area of the venue that is ordinarily set aside for dining. Takeaway alcohol is not permitted before 1pm on ANZAC Day. If you are not an RSL or Services Club (or have an agreement with one) and you are not serving meals, you can still host other activities such as lawn bowls, as long as alcohol is not served.

Liquor can be sold to patrons for one hour before dining, while eating their meal and for one hour after finishing their meal.

TAB wagering operations can commence from midday on ANZAC Day in Clubs and Hotels, provided no alcohol is being sold or supplied.

The sale of take away liquor, EGM gaming and KENO is not permitted prior to 1pm on ANZAC Day.

From 1pm on ANZAC Day, normal liquor and gaming trading conditions apply.

5AM ANZAC DAY TRADING FOR RSL OR SERVICES CLUBS
On ANZAC Day, all licenced RSL or Services Clubs can trade from 5am as part of their ordinary trading hours in association with dawn services. RSL and Services Clubs are exempt from the standard requirement to provide meals at their premises.

Unlicensed groups wanting to trade on ANZAC Day may apply for an extended hours permit to trade from 5am-1pm if they have entered into a written agreement with an RSL or Services Club to sell liquor under the permit at an ANZAC Day event being held for the Club. Meals do not need to be served if this agreement is in place.

TWO-UP ON ANZAC DAY
Two-up can be played legally in a licensed RSL or Services Club on ANZAC Day. Only people over the age of 18 can play.

Hotel premises can conduct two-up on their premises as part of an ANZAC Day commemoration, if it is approved in writing by an RSL sub-branch and various conditions are met.
