Staff inductions and club vehicles

Do you have a suitable induction program at your venue? Many Queensland Clubs have a policy on driving club vehicles included in their induction program. Below are some suggested items to include in your policy.

Anyone driving a club vehicle must adhere to the following:

  • You must have a current driver’s licence valid in Australia

  • You must obey all road instructions and laws which include NOT using mobile phones while driving

  • You must not operate the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, where your blood alcohol concentration should exceed the stipulated allowable level in the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act for operating a vehicle following the consumption of alcohol. Should you be convicted by a court of competent jurisdiction of operating the vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration which exceeds the stipulated allowable level in the abovementioned act, you will be subject to disciplinary action which may include termination of employment

  • You must not operate the vehicle under the influence of a prohibited drug. Should you be convicted by a court of competent jurisdiction of operating the vehicle whilst under the influence of a prohibited drug, you will be subject to disciplinary action which may include termination of employment

  • Smoking is not permitted in club vehicles at any time

  • In the event of an accident, the accident must be reported immediately to the General Manager

  • Any minor damage, scratches, dints, splitting or glass damage are to be reported to the General Manager

  • All fines associated with the use of club vehicles are the responsibility of the employee that incurred the fine

An effective induction program ensures that the staff have an understanding of all policies including motor vehicles.
