About RSA RCG NSW
NSW RSA Online Course Overview:
This online RSA course is for the nationally accredited unit SITHFAB021 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol. It teaches the skills and knowledge required to serve alcohol responsibly, assist alcohol-affected individuals, and provide an overview of the local New South Wales liquor laws and regulations.
Unit of Competency: SITHFAB021 – Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol
Course Outcome: Statement of Attainment and Interim Certificate that can be used to get your competency card.
Course Duration: 6 Hours
Course Delivery: 100% online
Assessments: Online and video assessments
Same-Day Certificates: Statements of attainments can be issued on the same day as course completion. See the T&Cs below for more information.
Valid in: Valid in all states. Some states require bridging courses.
Upon completion of this course, you will receive a Statement of attainment and an interim certificate. The interim certificate is valid for 90 days, during which time you are required to visit your local NSW Services centre and apply for a competency card.
NSW RCG Course Overview:
This course is designed for those people wishing to apply for a Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) competency card in New South Wales. It also includes the nationally recognised unit of competency, SITHGAM022 Provide Responsible Gambling Services / Responsible Conduct of Gambling. It teaches the skills and knowledge required to provide responsible gambling services and assist those who are experiencing harm from gambling.

Course Outcome: Statement of Attainment and Interim Certificate*
Course Duration: 6+ Hours
Course Delivery: Virtual via Zoom, led in real-time by an approved RCG trainer
Class Limit: 15 students
Assessments: Online assessment
Same-Day Certificates: Statements of attainments can be issued on the same day as course completion. See the T&Cs below for more information.
Valid in: NSW
*Upon completion of this course you will be issued a Statement of Attainment from CTA Training Specialists. We will also upload your details to L&G NSW letting them know that you have completed the course. L&G NSW will then send you an additional assessment that you will need to complete to get your Interim Certificate.
About NSW Competency Card
NSW provides the one Competency Card for RSA and RCG. If you already have a NSW RSA competency card, on completion of your RCG course you will automatically be sent a new card with your updated competencies.
Note: in NSW all competencies must expire on the same date, calculated five years from the first competency gained e.g. if your RSA competency expires in June 2023, even if you gain your RCG competency in June 2020 both competencies will still have an expiration date of June 2023. This ensures all your competencies are current and expire on the same date.
If you are due for a RSA renewal, we recommend first completing that and then doing the RCG course. That way your RCG remains valid for as close to 5 years as possible.
If you don’t currently have an RSA Competency Card, you may require both RSA and RCG for your role. If so, then you can complete both courses with CTA and save $20. View our RSA RCG bundle for more information.
If you only require your RCG Competency Card, then this is the course for you. Upon completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment from us. Additionally, we let Liquor & Gaming NSW know that you have completed the RCG course and they will send you an additional assessment that needs to be completed prior to receiving your Interim Certificate.
This Interim Certificate is valid for 90 days can be used to get your Competency Card from your local NSW Services centre.
RSA & RCG Refreshers in NSW
You must complete your refresher through Services NSW.
Redoing a full RSA or RCG course will not renew your competency card.
Same Day RSA Certificates
CTA will issue your Statement of Attainment on the same day as when you submit your assessments if the following conditions are met:
- All assessments submitted before 4 pm AEST
- You pass your assessments
- Your USI number has been verified.

NSW RSA RCG for International students and Visa holders
Visa holders and international students (including subclass 500) can undertake this course through CTA Training Specialists. You will require a USI to receive your Statement of Attainment. If you don’t already have one, you can apply for one here.
