This NSW online SITHFAB002 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) course covers the skill and knowledge requirements common to New South Wales for RSA. Some legislative requirements and knowledge will differ across borders, however you will learn to;
- Understand your obligations under the law
- Identify customers to whom alcohol service may be refused
- Responsibly assist customers to drink within appropriate limits
- Assist alcohol affected customers
- Assessed via video submission on your ability to “Refuse service to customers in a professional manner”
Our RSA Online NSW course (SITHFAB002 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol) provides you with two (2) certificates at the end;
- Your Interim Certificate (which allows you to work in NSW for 90 days) AND,
- A nationally recognised SITHFAB002 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol Statement of Attainment which allows you to work in licensed venues across Australia!
Online RSA NSW Course Structure & Answers
There are 7 tasks in the online SITHFAB002 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) course to be completed. In line with the new Australian Government Department of Education & Training course packages, it is now a requirement to upload a video as part of the RSA course assessment.
Therefore, to be competent in SITHFAB002 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol one of our qualified trainer and assessors is required to assess the following from each student’s video upload:
- Oral communication skills (speak firmly and clearly with intoxicated customers in a manner that de-escalates conflict), and
- Effective communication and conflict-resolution skills are used when addressing the following scenarios:
- One compliant customer; and
- One difficult customer refusing to leave the premises
*Please note: You only need to upload one video but it must address the 2 specified scenarios.

The course further includes video, readings, interactive activities and case studies to assist in your learning experience across the following 4 elements:
- Element 1 – Sell or serve alcohol responsibly
- Element 2 – Assist customers to drink within appropriate limits
- Element 3 – Assess alcohol affected customers and identify those to whom sale or service must be refused
- Element 4 – Refuse to provide alcohol
There are no pre-requisite units to this course.

How long does the RSA Online NSW course take to complete?
Please allow a minimum of four (4) hours to complete your online NSW RSA course. It may take you more or less time, but it is best to allow yourself more time than you think you will need.

How long do I have to pass my RSA Course Online NSW?
From the time of enrolment, you have six (6) weeks to complete your training course and you may start and stop whenever you like during this time.
Valid State Requirements
Working with the sale, service and supply of alcohol in NSW
To work in the NSW hospitality industry serving or supplying alcohol or liquor, you need a NSW RSA Competency Card approved by Liquor and Gaming NSW.
Your RSA Online NSW Competency Card is required if you:
- sell, serve or supply alcohol
- work with gaming machines
- operate an ID scanner.
Your RSA Course NSW Competency Card is a plastic card for your wallet and is also now available in a digital version to download on your phone or tablet.
Your RSA Online NSW Competency Card is valid for five (5) years.
The card is proof to NSW liquor authorities that you have successfully completed training in the Responsible Service of Alcohol NSW.
Is my RSA Online NSW Certificate valid to work in other States?
If you complete the Club Training Australia RSA online NSW course, you also receive a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment for SITHFAB002 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol which enables you to work within other States in Australia.
What certificate will I receive for completing this course?
Unlike other providers, you will receive two (2) certificates for completing this course;
- A Liquor and Gaming NSW approved Interim Certificate
- A SITHFAB002 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol Statement of Attainment (nationally recognised)
Provided we have a verified both your identification, and your USI number, and as soon as you complete and upload your Final Assessments and they are marked as competent by one of our assessors, you will be issued with your nationally recognised Statement of Attainment and Interim Certificate via email. You will also be able to download and print the certificate via the Club Training Australia student portal.
Same Day Interim Certificate* Terms and Conditions
If you have uploaded your assessment/s by 4pm New South Wales time on a business day (Monday – Friday) and they are marked as competent by one of our trainers and assessors, and you have also provided a verified USI number, you will be issued with your Interim Certificate and Nationally Accredited Statement of Attainment via email on the same day (business hours only). If submitted after this, you will receive your certificate the next working day.
How to get your RSA course NSW Competency Card Certificate
First you must successfully complete your NSW online RSA course through an approved training provider like us (Club Training Australia). Once you pass, we will send you your Interim Certificate that allows you to work for 90 days.
Before your 90 days is up, you will need to take your interim certificate with you to apply for your competency card at a Service NSW Service Centre, where you will have your identity checked and your photo taken.

NOTE: Interim Certificates are valid for 90 days to allow you time to obtain a Liquor & Gaming NSW RSA Photo Competency card that is valid for 5 years. The cost of the NSW RSA Photo Competency card is included in your course fee.
Who needs to complete RSA Online NSW training?
Licensed venues serving, selling or supplying alcohol in New South Wales, are required to ensure their staff complete a SITHFAB002 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training course before commencing employment. In NSW, people working behind a bar or with alcohol must hold a valid Interim Certificate or get a RSA NSW Competency Card to be allowed to work.

Is this SITHFAB002 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol Online NSW Training Course accepted in all Australian States and Territories?
Licensing laws are different in each State and Territory; not all States accept online training. The Club Training Australia RSA Online NSW – SITHFAB002 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) online training course meets the requirements of the Australian Quality Training Framework and is a nationally recognised unit.
This online training course provides you with the information to work in most States of Australia (NSW, QLD, NT, SA and WA included), however it is always best to upskill yourself with the relevant laws of each State before starting a new job in a new State.

Are you an overseas or International student?
“Overseas” Student Visa: If you are currently studying in Australia on a subclass 500 Study Visa you will need to complete this course with a registered CRICOS organisation. CTA Training Specialists is not CRICOS registered. Please contact your nearest CRICOS registered RTO.
“International” Student with other Visa: If you are from another country and currently hold a Visa (other than a subclass 500), you can complete one of our courses. Please note: you will need to generate proof of this Visa via the VEVO government website once you commence your course (instructions will be provided).
