When completing the qualification HLTAID011 this will include the following:
- HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support
- HLTAID011 Provide first aid
At the training session, you will complete assessment questions, as well as a practical component for the course.
You will need to effectively demonstrate providing CPR to an adult by:
• performing at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor
• following the prompts of an automated external defibrillator (AED) to deliver at least one shock
• demonstrating a rotation of single rescuer operators with minimal interruptions to compressions
• responding appropriately in the event of regurgitation or vomiting
• handing over to emergency services
• providing an accurate verbal report of the incident
• reviewing the incident
This will also be required to demonstrate the following on an infant:
• performing at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles both compressions and ventilations) on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface.
Completing this course will ensure your first aid training is up to date and valid for 3 years. The CPR component of your course will be required to be completed every 12 months.
You will be required to provide your USI on the day.
Please note, failing to complete any of the practical components will result in failing the course, please ensure you are able to complete these components as described (on the floor) before enrolling into this course.
