Over the past few months, our intrepid Diploma students have ventured to Brisbane and Sydney as part of their Central Qld Management Development Program learning experiences.
Next month they are off to Vegas!
This innovative training program spread throughout the year gives participants real live experiences to coincide with the theory.
Check out what else the students have been up to and see for yourself how this program is worth investing some of your key staff in!
Eight Supervisors, Duty Managers and Gaming Managers are currently enrolled in the Central Queensland Management Development Program, in a partnership with Club training Australia and Yaralla Sports Club in Gladstone.
Not only are the group undertaking their Diploma of Hospitality Management, but they are enjoying exciting tours and training in Brisbane, Sydney and last but not least LAS VEGAS!
So far, the group have had experiential back of house tours of Jupiter’s Casino, Sydney clubs, Dined at Rockpool Bar and Grill, visited Clubs such as Greenbank RSL, all of which have been facilitated via CTA and our many industry contacts. I think it’s fair to say that these are all opportunities that would not normally be available to many middle managers across the Central Queensland belt.
Jamie-Lee Peterson has been employed at Yaralla Sports Club in Gladstone for 6 years, starting life as a bar attendant and after several internal promotions is now Administration Support Officer at the club. In this role, Jamie looks after marketing and promotions, administration, and also operates as required as a Duty Manager.
So what does Jamie think of the course?
Seeing how the larger venues function has been a real eye opener, Jupiter’s being a stand out on our Brisbane trip.
It’s an opportunity to experience places and areas within our industry that without this program we would simply not be able to.
The benefit for my club has been that we return to the venue, and have a better appreciation for why the business is run the way it is, why our management team make the decisions they do. I have asked many questions of my General Manager that I would not have thought about if not doing the course.
Being in Las Vegas next month will be extremely exciting and a lot of fun! We are training at IGT’s World Headquarters, visiting the World Gaming Expo, Tours of Casino’s and of course, having the occasional punt!
We all feel pretty special to have been chosen by our venues to undertake the program. It is an investment in key staff, and ensures loyalty, continual improvement of our clubs, and we also have a network of fellow participants that we can call upon over the coming years as we develop our careers.
The CQMDP will be inducting the next group of participants in March and April 2012. If you would like to be involved, or have staff that you think will benefit from this unique learning experience, please call Jono or Bill on (07) 3878 8977 for further information, or send an email to Bill Alexion.
