Community is at the very core of any venue, after all, they are the wonderful people that keep us in business! Connecting with your community can be as short-term as getting involved in local events and sponsorships, or as long-term as offering gainful employment or traineeships to the youth in your area!
Now is the ideal time to be considering school-based traineeships, they are a great initiative that can garner positive community support through the schools, the students and the parents involved, in and around your venue.
We have welcomed over 30 venues into the program this year including as far west as Charleville and our most recent recruit Caloundra RSL.
Some year 11 & 12 students are eligible for nationally recognised and funded vocational education and training (VET) qualifications, allowing them to work onsite at the club in conjunction within finishing their schooling, and the positive impacts have been outstanding. Peta from Sherwood Services Clubs is an avid fan of the program and has this to say to anyone thinking about joining up:
“We were finding attracting traineeships to the venue difficult for many reasons including how the younger demographic perceived what a club offered. However tapping into the local schools Certificate II VETIS program in conjunction with CTA and offering free work experience for the students to get a taste of what Community Clubs stand for and offer, we couldn’t be happier. Our members and guests regularly tell us how pleased they are with our community support and we enjoy working with the local youth to help them get a head start on their careers.”
